The Sweet Flypaper
Designer Marquise Stillwell’s new podcast series “The Sweet Flypaper” - borrows its name from “The Sweet Flypaper of Life,” a 1955 fiction and photography book by photographer Roy DeCarava and poet Langston Hughes, describing 1950s Black family life in Harlem, New York City. Joined at the beginning of each episode by friend, educator and Creative Economist, Neil Ramsay, this conversation series responds to a growing need to reexamine how design powers the world and our lives, and its potential to thoughtfully – and poetically – influence societal change. Stillwell firmly believes in the concept of holistic design practices, which, with the help of Ramsay, he uses as a guide to navigate through the ten episodes of the first season.
Art is a Verb | Season 1
Co-hosts Susan Barrett and Todd Thomas navigate today’s new circumstances with a collaborative intention, connecting with thought leaders and multidisciplinary creatives for intimate conversations about how we can use this unprecedented moment to chart the way forward toward a better, more sustainable, and equitable future. Guests include Dapper Dan, Parker Posey, Ben Sinclair, Rachel Comey, Lina Bradford and many more.
Detroit City of Design Podcast | Season 1 & 2
As stewards of Detroit’s UNESCO City of Design designation, Design Core Detroit aims to raise awareness of how design can create conditions for better quality of life and economic opportunity for everyone. Designers are professional problem-solvers, and in Season 2 of the Detroit City of Design Podcast, they discuss the value of design to business and society.
